Catering Manager

From Monday 24th February 2025, we require a dedicated and motivated Catering Manager. 

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • To plan, prepare, cook and serve healthy school refreshments of the highest quality to the children, staff and community, including school lunches which meet the Governments National Nutritional Standards.
  • To promote, organise and control the service and supervision and craft training of the catering staff.
  • To function as line manager for all catering and midday supervisory staff, and non-class based support staff
  • To have responsibility for Performance management for the catering team and midday supervisory staff

In addition, you will:

  • To enhance the catering provision at Nailsworth C of E Primary School
  • To work without direct supervision
  • To prepare and cook school refreshments as detailed on the daily menu in accordance with agreed recipes
  • Actively promote the school meals service to pupils and parents to increase uptake of healthy school meals
  • To prepare healthy snacks for the after-school club
  • To supervise the work of the catering employees and to issue clear instructions
  • To keep the work area clean and tidy and to undertake general cleaning duties
  • To serve meals in a polite and courteous manner
  • To undertake training as required
  • To deliver induction programme to new members of catering and midday supervisory staff
  • To carry training for new employees and be responsible for the continuous training and development of catering staff.  This includes skills and methods training
  • To plan and design menus for day to day catering and for to include staff lunches, functions and events.
  • To produce reports on catering and attend meetings if required.
  • To source and communicate with suppliers to ensure value for money.
  • To order supplies and ensure that stock control systems and production planning systems are instigated and effective.
  • To promote school meals and catering facilities for the whole school and community events.
  • To meet monthly with senior leaders to review the catering provision.
  • To review the income, expenditure and the cost of meals with the School Business Manager.
  • To follow School Policy at all times, particularly with regard to Food Hygiene, Health & Safety at Work and Customer Care. 
  • To liaise with the Environmental Health Officer and to maintain hygiene and health and safety standards so that they meet legislative requirements.
  • To wear full uniform for work and ensure that it is clean and presentable at all times.
  • To work effectively during contracted hours and be willing to work overtime as the job demands.
  •  To carry out any other reasonable duties.

Pay scale: Grade 6 Point 15 currently £29,093 pa pro rata. Working hours will be from 9.30am to 2.30pm, Monday to Friday, Term time only

Play Co-Ordinator 

From Monday 24th February 2025, we require a dedicated and motivated Lunchtime Lead & Play Co-Ordinator.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Lead the Midday team in organising lunchtime activities and rotas for outdoor/indoor/wet play duties
  • Set up lunchtime ‘zones’ to encourage children to be involved in games and activities
  • Support the midday team in allocating staff to certain zones
  • Develop and oversee lunchtime opportunities and zones
  • Ensure the school grounds are left in a clean, tidy & respectful manner following lunchtimes
  • Liaise with the Senior Leadership Team on any matters arising during lunchtimes
  • Report any safeguarding incidents via CPOMs and use EPraise to log pupil’s behaviour on behalf of the midday team

In addition, you will:

  • Be a positive role model to children
  • Promote the highest standards of behaviour including encouraging children to have an active, healthy lifestyle and promote good table manners
  • Operate effectively within a team
  • Have a calm and confident manner
  • Have good communication skills
  • Have a desire to help children become successful

Working hours will be from 12noon to 1.15pm, Monday to Friday
